According to Variety, Aerosmith is coming out of retirement for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, with the Aerosmith Hollywood Bowl concerts set for October 29 and November 1. The shows, titled “California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends,” mark a return to the stage for a band that had stepped away from touring.

The run is only two nights at a single venue, but it reverses the retirement announcement the group made two years ago. Fans who followed that news will see the band back in front of an audience, which is the headline fact of the story.

The concerts are built around guests. Run-D.M.C., Billy Idol, Eric Church and Slash are among the names Variety lists. The full roster also includes the Black Crowes, Heart, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, Jerry Cantrell, Marcus King, Mike Inez, Pat Monahan, Sammy Hagar, Steve Stevens, Sully Erna, Tom Morello, Adam Wakeman, Audley Freed, Kenny Aronoff and Nuno Bettencourt, along with others.

The guest lineup is set to change from one night to the next, so the two shows will not look identical. Don Was will serve as music director for both nights.

Variety reports that additional guests and surprise appearances will be announced in the coming weeks. The final lineups will be announced at or near showtime, which means more names are still to come.

The band previewed the shows earlier this week with a social media post. In it, lead singer Steven Tyler stands on a ladder beside photographer Ross Halpin, affixing letters to the Hollywood Bowl sign.

When can fans get tickets?

Citi cardmembers get first access. Their presale begins October 8 at 10 a.m. PT, and additional presales follow. General onsale, the broader sale open to the public, starts October 10 at 10 a.m. PT, according to Variety. Fans planning to attend should mark both dates.

The road back from a canceled farewell

The new shows follow a run of setbacks for the group. Aerosmith canceled its 2023 “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour” because Tyler suffered a fractured larynx.

In August 2024, the group said it had officially retired from touring, citing Tyler’s “recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.” That announcement came a year after the canceled farewell run, and it framed the decision as a final chapter for the band on the road.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours,” Aerosmith wrote in a social media post at the time.

Tyler did keep performing after the retirement announcement. He appeared at a Grammy Awards watch party in February 2025 and took part in Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in July 2025, Variety noted.

What’s still to come

The next dates are already on the calendar. Presales begin October 8, general onsale follows on October 10, and the shows take place October 29 and November 1 at the Hollywood Bowl. Beyond those dates, Variety’s reporting says only that more guests and surprise appearances will be revealed in the coming weeks, with final lineups set at or near showtime.
