Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have confirmed their breakup after nearly 10 years together, according to E! News. The reality stars each shared the news in separate social media posts on Oct. 8, and both kept their daughters at the center of what they said.

Wharton, 35, posted on Instagram about the split and what it means for his family. He wrote that he wanted to be honest about where his life stands at the moment.

“Taylor and I have decided to go our separate ways, as hard as that is to say publicly,” Cory Wharton, the Challenge alum, wrote in an Instagram post.

He said the two of them shared many years, memories and love, and that their two daughters are the most important part of the story. Wharton’s post was paired with a photo of himself alongside Mila, 6, and Maya, 4, the daughters he shares with Selfridge, as well as Ryder, 9, whom he has with his ex, Cheyenne Floyd.

Wharton also said the chapter ahead is about his girls and about his own work, including learning from his mistakes, growing and healing. He added that he is grateful for the position he is in.

He then spoke to Selfridge directly. He apologized that things did not work out the way they both hoped, admitted there were times he could have been better, and said he was sorry for the ways he had let her down.

How did Selfridge explain the split?

Selfridge, 32, told her followers in an Instagram Story that she had left Wharton. She said she had grown tired of not receiving basic respect.

“I was sick of not getting basic respect from a person I was with for nine years,” Taylor Selfridge wrote in an Instagram Story.

She added that she thought people could see the strain of the last few years, and that she deserved more and would get it. Shortly after confirming the breakup, she posted a photo of herself hugging her daughters, with a caption about being together as a trio.

The two met on Ex on the Beach in 2017, and their nearly decade-long relationship has included a lot of hard stretches. Much of that time, they have leaned on each other while supporting Maya through multiple hospital stays caused by a congenital heart condition.

In May, Wharton told E! News that Maya’s most recent hospital stay gave him and Selfridge a chance to set their conflicts aside and focus on their child’s health. He said the small things he used to stress about faded during that time, and that it changed his perspective on many things.

Looking further back, Wharton told E! News in 2023 that the couple had just bought a house. He said marriage was being talked about and that they had everything except the ring, adding that the two of them were taking steps toward it.

What happens next for the family?

The posts do not lay out a custody arrangement, a living situation or a timeline for the split, and the reporting does not add those details. What the stars did share is their focus on their daughters.

Wharton said he is excited for what the future holds, though he admitted he feels scared and nervous too. He described being a girl dad as the thing he was put on earth to do.

For now, both stars have spoken about the breakup on their own social media accounts, and the girls remain at the heart of both messages.
