Akira Yamaoka 2027 tour dates are out, and according to NME the Silent Hill composer will play eight shows in ten days, starting March 17 in Oakland, California. For fans of the horror series, it is a chance to hear the music live from the man who helped build much of it.
The run follows his first ever US headline tour, which he took on earlier this year. That 2026 outing pulled heavily from his work across the Silent Hill franchise, so it offers the clearest hint of what a show might draw on.
The Silent Hill years
Yamaoka is a Japanese composer who worked with Konami on the Silent Hill franchise between 1999 and 2009. In that span he helped create nine Silent Hill titles, including the original trilogy, the mobile game The Escape and the reimagined Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
He went back to Konami last year to work on the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, a brand new entry in the series.
Across those projects, his credits stretch from the original trilogy to the newest entry.
Put in order, his story runs from the Konami years to a return last year, then a first US headline tour earlier this year, and now a 2027 run that includes a stop in Vancouver. The sequence moves from studio work to live shows.
“Silent Hill isn’t about horror, it’s about fear, guilt, loneliness, grief, love, obsession and the contradictions that exist within all of us,” Akira Yamaoka told NME earlier this year.
That theme runs through his newer work. He told NME that recent scores were shaped by the tension of the modern world, where people are more connected than ever yet often feel isolated, and that those contradictions fascinate him.
“I’ve devoted my life to creating fascinating music and games that make people say, ‘This is so cool’,” reads the Instagram bio of Akira Yamaoka.
The line is short, but it is the composer’s own description of the work fans are invited to hear live.
When and where can fans catch the shows?
The schedule runs March 17 at Fox Theater in Oakland, March 19 at Roseland Theater in Portland, March 20 at Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, March 21 at Moore Theatre in Seattle, March 23 at The Depot in Salt Lake City, March 24 at Paramount Theatre in Denver, March 26 at The Fitzgerald Theatre in St Paul and March 27 at Riviera Theatre in Chicago.
The eight dates are spread across ten days, so the run is compact. The route goes from the West Coast through the Pacific Northwest and into the Midwest, with Vancouver the only Canadian stop listed.
Tickets go on sale Friday, November 6, at 10am local time. The original report links to more information for readers who want to know more.
The lineup has not been confirmed. It is not yet clear whether Yamaoka will be joined by a band or perform solo, and the report does not say more on that point.
Other Silent Hill projects in the report
A separate report from last month claimed that a remake of the original Silent Hill will be released at some point in 2026, and that a reboot movie adaptation is also in the works.
Those plans have not been confirmed, so for now they remain a report. Of the news on the table, the tour is the only item with dates, a venue list and a ticket sale attached.
Fans who want the details should watch for the November 6 ticket sale, the next date the announcement sets.
